After a tumultuous week of budget trimming and fundraising, the First Night Warrenton committee announced this afternoon that the event will proceed as scheduled.
Community leaders, business owners and committee members pulled together to raise $12,000 in firm pledges in just five days, ensuring the baseline financial need has been met.
“We are touched by the outpouring of support shown by the community these past few days,” shared Bluemont President and Artistic Director Peter Dunning, “the resounding sentiment was that this event is a part of the fabric of our community—it must be saved.”
First Night Warrenton presents a truly wonderful New Year’s Eve celebration presenting more than 50 musical and theatrical performances at ten (10) toasty-warm indoor locations, all within walking distance of each other in downtown Warrenton. On Saturday, December 31st First Night Warrenton will now, once again, bring together families, friends and neighbors from all over our Fauquier and neighboring communities to enjoy this wonderful New Years Eve celebration of the arts and the magical Grand Illumination at midnight.
Over the past 19 years, First Night Warrenton has become a favorite way for Fauquier friends and neighbors to welcome in the New Year. Designed as an affordable and special way to celebrate New Year’s Eve, First Night admission buttons, good for any and all events, cost $10 per person, $8 seniors, $5 for children ages 3-12 and under 3 are free; special family rate $30 (parents and children) and are available onsite the evening of the event.
First Night needs volunteers. It’s not too late to join the team of people whose talents and energy make First Night a success every year. First Night needs volunteers to help plan, set up, host and coordinate the event. Families, business or community groups and young people do much of the First Night organization and work. To volunteer, contact Ann Martella at annmartella@verizon.net, phone: 540.341.0260.
First Night still needs sponsors. While First Night Warrenton has met its baseline pledge goal, site sponsorships/donations are still being sought. Individuals, business and community groups interested in sponsoring First Night should contact Peter Dunning at peter@bluemont.org, phone: 540.338.4640, Ann Martella at annmartella@verizon.net, phone: 540.341.0260 or Crystal McKinsey at: cdmckinseymckinseydevelopment.com, phone: 540-351-0006.
