A hearty thanks to all who helped make our 2010 First Night Leesburg a great success. Conservative estimates put the evening's attendance at 3,500-4,000, one of our larger turnouts in the past 25 years. A beautiful, mild evening helped Loudoun neighbors and visitors welcome in the New Year with a truly special celebration of the cultural spirit of our community.
First Night Leesburg presented a wonderful variety of 45 performing groups in 92 performances at 17 indoor sites between 6pm and 12 midnight. A popular tradition here in Leesburg, the midnight Grand Illumination finale brought many hundreds of friends and families together to the center of our beautiful colonial downtown. Together we ushered in the New Year with a candle-lit sing along and a dramatic countdown as the Old Courthouse bell pealed out twelve times for good fortune for us all in 2011.
First Night Leesburg is a non-profit Bluemont community project created each year by more than 120 volunteers and an estimated 750 hours of preparation, presentation, and clean-up. It involves families, businesses and civic organizations from all over our community.
First Night Leesburg is made possible by a broad coalition of public and private support.
