InterAct Story Theatre blends literature, drama, music, dance, and the power of imagination in plays that are based on folktales and fairy tales from around the world. With active participation from the audience, students transform themselves into a variety of characters right from their seats. InterAct's approach is designed to challenge the imagination, develop critical thinking and problem solving-skills, and stimulate reading motivation, vocabulary development, and comprehension skills.

Books Alive (PreK-5) Books come to life as students explore age-appropriate text from children's literature or folklore through creative drama, and dramatize the text in their own words. Books Alive workshops can be designed to fit a variety of themes, topics, world cultures or curricular goals. Please contact us with your questions and ideas!

Harriet Tubman: The Chosen One The Chosen One (3-12) A dynamic one-woman performance that brings to life the story of a great African-American. This performance is followed by a post-performance discussion with the actress.

One Gold Coin - Una Moneda de Oro (K-6) Inspired by a Latin American story, the play tells the story of what happens when a healer comes to a poor village with a mysterious gold coin. Everyone wants to get their hands on that coin, but there is a catch- it can only be given to someone who truly needs it. The coin passes through the hands of many endearing characters, transforming their lives and their hearts. This uplifting tale celebrates the spirit of giving and the power of kindness. The play is performed by two actors with the help of the entire audience, who become part of the village community right from where they sit.

Stories on Stage! (preK-8) Stories from around the world come to life for students who take part in the action. Select a Native American legend or a tale from Africa, Ireland, Russia, Vietnam, China or Hawaii.

Story Can Theater (PreK-1) Students are mesmerized as they observe a story brought to life with miniatures and toys. The students then dramatize scenes from the story. The workshop stresses oral language and emergent literacy skills.

The Hero of Everything (K-6) Who needs a sidekick or a team when you can do everything yourself, and do it just the way it should be? Captain Everything, everyone's favorite superhero, loves saving the day and doesn't need anyone's help to do it. What happens when the Alliance of Superheroes gets tired of being left out of everything and quits? When Captain Everything faces something she can't do, can she face her fears and cooperate with her team to save Citytown City, or will it be too late? This action-packed play is performed by three actors and incorporates multimedia technology to explore the character education themes of Cooperation, Collaboration, Fairness and Respect. The entire audience gets into the act right from where they're sitting, becoming part of a new alliance of superheroes who need to work together to save the day.
