Antonio Rocha, a native of Brazil, uses his talents as a mime and storyteller to illustrate lessons from different aspects of life. Using the versatile yet simple nature of these art forms, he challenges the audience and workshop participants to activate their imagination through rich symbolism and imagery.
Crossroads (K-8) Tales from Brazil, Africa, Asia and the United States. This is a culturally diverse show of stories told with masks and mime. Some of the tales touch on matters of communication, self-esteem, and inner value of appearance.
From the Fall of Talus to the Fall of Icarus (6-12, college) Using mime, different character voices, and masks, Antonio follows Daedalus, the famous Greek inventor, as he is banished from his beloved Athens and sent into exile on the island of Crete. His life in exile leads to several myths, including The Bull from the Sea, The Minotaur, Icarus and more.
Jungle Tales (K-8) A jungle of fun through Rocha?s blend of mime and storytelling into the forests of Brazil. See how a turtle went to the "Party in the Sky." Witness a deer and a jaguar trying to share a house. Meet "Tico" an orphan monkey from the Amazon.
