Traditional African percussionist Darrell Rose performs across the United States as a soloist, in ensemble with his Afrikan Drum Festival and with numerous traditional dance companies. As a musician, artist and teacher, Darrell instructs children in drumming, rhythms, and their historic context in large assembly programs as well as small group and individualized instruction. The beat of the djembe, the West African drum, sounds through the room as Darrell motivates students to their highest level of achievement in drumming and daily life with high standards of learning and behavior in a positive manner.

African Drumming (K-12) will introduce students to drumming, percussion, voice and creative rhythm of African drumming techniques with a high level of audience participation.

Artist-in-Residence (K-12) A day or longer of assemblies and small group or classroom drumming workshops that can be tailored to suit the needs of the school. Seven drums are supplied for this program for use during the residency. Residency programs can last up to 10 weeks.
